I only filled in the YES votes on the helmet bill for each Delegate. If the column is not filled in, it was either a NO or that Delegate was not in office at that time.

I realize now that it may be a little confusing, so I will update the spreadsheet to include the NO votes. Bear with me, please.

If you notice any mistakes on the spreadsheet, please let me know right away. Much of it was hand typed in - I tried to insure it is accurate, but let me know if you find anything.

Thanks,
Penny

Some questions about the spreadsheet.

What do the years mean, e.g. 2004, 2005? Does this mean they were in office during these years? How they voted on a helmet bill?

What do "2003 BYWA" and "2002 BYWA" mean?

Under these columns, what does "Yes" mean? That they voted for a new helmet bill? That they voted favorably?

What does "No Vote" mean? That they didn't vote, or that they voted against us?

Douglas - The years listed on the sheet are the years we've had helmet reform bills. For two of those years we had a "byways" bill which would have allowed freedom of choice with reqard to helmets while riding on roads designated as Virginia Byways.

I only put in the "YES" votes (voted WITH us - it's a favorable vote) for those years - or "NO VOTE" which means they did not vote that year. I understand now that it is a little confusing, so I will add the "NO" vote to the columns to indicate who voted against us, and rename "NO VOTE" to "NOT VOTING". When I am finished, those that have nothing in those columns should be interpretted as not having been in office at that time.

Does this help? Sorry for the confusion.

Penny

Penny

Thanks for the quick response.

Perhaps I can help. (I'm pretty good with spreadsheets, as well as other documents. I do this sort of thing at my day job.)

I'd be happy to do some layout work on the spreadheet that will make it easier to read, use, etc. Considering you've already answered my questions, I'd like to take a crack at it.

I'll send you a copy so you can judge for yourself. Feel free to use it, post it, toss it, etc.

I'd be happy to take a look at it - please hold off - I've just updated it and will get it posted soon. I'll post it when it's available.

Thanks

Thank you Douglas, for providing a new version of the spreadsheet. This one is much easier to read and understand.

Everyone, Hersey has posted latest spreadsheet version at http://www.vfr-race.com/handouts/adoptarep.xls Take a look! Below are the instructions:

Spreadsheet Instructions
WORKSHEETS. There are separate worksheets for Delegates and Senators. Click on the bottom tabs to see each sheet. The title of each spreadsheet is at the top in bold/caps so its obvious which sheet you're looking at.

HEADERS. The first two columns are for the representative’s name and district. Next come columns for the year followed by "HR" for Helmet Reform, and "BW" for Byways. The headers are "frozen" so the column headers and row headers are always on screen when you scroll.

COLOR CODES. Green means Yes, they voted for a reform bill. Yellow means they didn’t vote on the bill. Red means they voted against a reform bill. The '06 votes will be Gray until adopters are confident on how their reps stand. Adopters are shown in Blue. One useful thing to try - change the view to 20% and you can see by color how we're doing.

Wow...only two have been adopted so far?
Ok...just assign me one or two ok? I don't know who to pick.
But let me forwarn you guys, I'm new to all this stuff. I've always hated anything to do with politics so I'm not well versed on the ins and outs... I just know that if I'm not part of the solution then I'm part of the problem, so I want to do what I can to help.....you just might have to hold my hand though!!!! Rolling Eyes
